Friends: A Definition

Webster’s Dictionary:
One attached to another by affection or esteem, acquaintance, a favored companion
This really doesn’t do the word justice. So what is a friend? Here’s what I think.
A friend is someone that shows an interest in you. They get to know you and then strive to better your life, help you meet goals, encourage you. A friend is someone you can trust, someone you can lean on, someone you can be honest with. A friend corrects you when you are wrong, but does it gently. A friend doesn’t let you walk alone through the scariest parts of life, they hold your hand. A friend laughs with you, cries with you, talks with you. A friend is someone that will stand up for you. A friend is someone that loves you.
Now I pose a question. Do not ask how many friends you have, ask how many people you are a friend to?
